Gym Space Rental for Personal Trainers in Woodland Hills: How It Works

Gym Space Rental for Personal Trainers in Woodland Hills: How It Works

By Paul Wassily, The Compound Gym

If you are training clients out of a commercial gym, you already know the problems. You are working around their equipment rules, their crowds, and their front desk. Some of them take a cut of your rate. Most of them would rather you were not there at all.

Renting space is the alternative, and it is what a number of independent trainers do here.

How it works

You bring your own clients and train them in our space. They are your clients, your programming, your relationship, and your rate. We are not taking a percentage of your business or putting our name on your work.

You get access to the floor and the equipment during the hours you need it. What that looks like depends on how you work, which is why we talk it through rather than pointing you at a pricing page.

What you actually get

A room that is not crowded. Membership here is capped deliberately. You are not fighting for a rack in the middle of a session or rearranging your program around what happens to be free.

Privacy your clients will notice. A lot of people training one-on-one do not want an audience. Executives, people early in their journey, anyone self-conscious about starting. The environment does some of your selling for you.

Hours that fit real client schedules. Access runs 24 hours a day Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays. Early mornings and late evenings are when most working clients can actually train.

Equipment that covers serious work. Free weights, racks, and the machines you need for general strength work with real clients.

Who this suits

Independent trainers with an existing client base who want a better room to work in. Trainers leaving a commercial gym and taking clients with them. Coaches who only need a few hours a week and do not want the overhead of their own studio.

It suits you less if you need a big open floor for group classes, or heavy specialty equipment we do not carry. Easiest way to know is to come look at the room.

Why trainers move here from bigger gyms

The reason is almost always the same. At a commercial gym you are a guest in someone else’s business, and everything from equipment access to how you are allowed to speak to your own clients runs through their policy.

Here you are renting space and running your business inside it. Paul has been coaching in Woodland Hills since 2003 and built this place around the way one-on-one training actually works, not around a membership-volume model.

What it costs

Rental arrangements depend on how many hours you need and when you need them, so we do not publish a flat rate. Call and we will give you a straight number for how you actually plan to use the space.

For reference, standard gym membership is $99.99 per month, month-to-month, with no long-term contract, no initiation fees and no annual fees, plus a one-time $50 key fob charge. Trainer space rental is a separate arrangement.

Common questions

Do my clients need to be members?
No. They come in with you for their session. Ask us about the specifics for how you plan to work.

Do you take a percentage of what I charge?
No. Your rate is between you and your client.

Can I rent just a few hours a week?
Yes. Plenty of trainers only need specific windows. Tell us the hours you want and we will work out what makes sense.

Can I come see it before deciding anything?
Please do. Walk the floor, look at the equipment, and see it at the time of day you would actually be training.
