24-Hour Gym Access in Woodland Hills: What It Actually Means Day to Day

24-Hour Gym Access in Woodland Hills: What It Actually Means Day to Day

By Paul Wassily, The Compound Gym

Plenty of gyms advertise around-the-clock access. Fewer explain what that actually looks like when you show up at 5am on a Tuesday, or at 10pm after a long day.

Here is the honest version of how it works at The Compound.

First, the part most gyms bury

We are open 24 hours a day Monday through Saturday. We are closed Sundays.

That Sunday closure is deliberate. It is when the floor gets deep cleaned and the equipment gets serviced. A gym that never closes is a gym that never gets properly maintained, and you feel that difference within a few months of joining one.

So if someone tells you they are open 24/7, ask them when they clean.

What the hours actually buy you

The obvious benefit is scheduling. You train when your day allows instead of building your day around a gym’s hours.

The less obvious benefit is the one members actually talk about: at 5am or 10pm, the room is quiet. You are not waiting for a rack. You are not working in with someone. You are not rushing a set because a person is standing over you.

For a lot of people that is the difference between a session that gets done properly and one that gets cut short.

Why the membership cap matters more than the hours

Extended hours only help if the gym is not oversold. A crowded gym with long hours is still a crowded gym, it just spreads the crowd thinner.

Membership here is capped on purpose. That is what keeps the floor usable at 6pm, not just at 6am. The hours and the cap work together, and the cap is the part that costs us money to maintain.

You can see the facility here: Woodway treadmills, Precor cardio, free weights to 150 lbs, cable systems, and a sled track.

How you actually get in

Members enter with a key fob. There is a one-time $50 charge for it when you join.

The fob is what makes the hours possible. Entry is limited to members only, so nobody is coming through the door at 11pm who should not be there. It also means we do not need staff on site around the clock, which is part of how the membership stays at one flat price instead of a premium tier for off-hours access.

What it costs

Membership is $99.99 per month, month-to-month, with no long-term contract, no initiation fee and no annual fee. There is a one-time $50 key fob charge when you join. Cancellation requires 30 days written notice.

One membership, one price. There is no separate charge for late-night or early-morning access, because charging extra for hours the building is already open never made sense to us.

Personal training is priced separately based on how often you train.

Common questions

Why is a $50 key fob essential for secure 24-hour access?
The key fob system ensures only authorized members can enter the facility, which keeps late-hour training secure and lets members come and go on their own schedule. There is a one-time $50 key fob charge when you join.

How much does membership cost at a private gym with 24-hour access?
Membership at The Compound is $99.99 per month, month-to-month with no long-term contract. There is a one-time $50 key fob charge when you join, and no initiation fee or annual fee.

How does after-hours gym access improve privacy and focus?
Training during less populated hours means the room and the equipment are available without waiting. Capped membership reduces traffic further, so sessions stay uninterrupted and members can focus on the work rather than on finding a free rack.

What security measures protect members training alone at night?
Entry is controlled by key fob, which limits facility access to authorized members only. Controlled entry prevents unauthorized individuals from getting in, and surveillance protocols support member safety at any hour.
