Towel Service, Private Showers and Key Fob Access: What a Full Service Private Gym Includes

Towel Service, Private Showers and Key Fob Access: What a Full Service Private Gym Includes

By Paul Wassily, The Compound Gym

Most people pick a gym on price and distance, then find out about everything else after they sign. Is there a towel when you finish? Can you shower and go straight to a meeting? Can you get in at 5am? Those details decide whether you keep going. Here is what comes with a membership at The Compound, how the key fob access works, and what to ask any gym before you join.

Which amenities come with a membership at The Compound?

A membership at The Compound comes with towel service, private showers, key fob access 24 hours a day six days a week, and a capped membership that keeps the floor uncrowded. There is one membership and one price, and nothing is held back for a higher tier.

Here is what that looks like day to day:

  • Towel service. Clean towels are there when you finish. You do not have to pack one or carry a damp one home.
  • Private showers. Train before work, shower, and leave ready for the day. No open locker room line.
  • Key fob access. Your fob gets you in on your own schedule, and only members get in.
  • A capped membership. Membership is limited on purpose, so the equipment is there when you need it.
  • The equipment. Woodway treadmills, Precor ellipticals and a full strength floor, kept clean and maintained.
  • A relaxation area and a high-end audio system, so the room feels like a place you want to spend an hour.

If you train with me, nutrition coaching comes with personal training as well. You can see the room and the equipment on our facility page.

How does key fob access work six days a week?

Key fob access works on your schedule: your fob opens the door 24 hours a day, six days a week, and the gym is closed on Sundays. You get your fob when you join. From then on, you come and go when it suits you, whether that is 5am before work or 10pm after the kids are asleep.

The fob is also what makes the late hours safe and quiet. Only members can get in, so nobody is walking through the door at 11pm who should not be there.

The Sunday closure is deliberate. That is the day the floor gets a deep clean and the equipment gets serviced. A gym that never closes is a gym that never gets properly maintained, and members notice the difference. We wrote more about this in 24-hour gym access in Woodland Hills.

What should you ask any gym before you join?

Before you join any gym, ask what you will actually experience at the hour you plan to train, and what the full cost is in writing. A tour at 2pm tells you very little about 6pm on a busy weeknight.

Questions worth asking any gym, including us:

  1. Can I see the floor at the time I would actually train? Crowding is the thing that makes people quit.
  2. Is membership capped, or will you keep selling? A gym that sells unlimited memberships fills up.
  3. What is the full cost to start? Ask about initiation fees, annual fees and any card or fob charge.
  4. How do I cancel? Get the notice period and the method in writing before you sign.
  5. What comes with the membership, and what costs extra? Towels, showers, hours and personal training.
  6. When is the gym cleaned? If the answer is vague, look at the corners and the equipment.

We are happy to answer every one of these on a tour. You can see the full membership details on our membership page.

Common questions

How much does membership cost, and are there other fees?

$99.99 per month, month-to-month, no long-term contract, no initiation fees, no annual fees. There is a one-time $50 key fob charge when you join. Cancellation requires 30 days written notice.

Why are you closed on Sundays?

Sunday is when the gym gets its deep clean and the equipment gets serviced. Closing one day a week is how the floor stays clean and everything stays in working order the other six.

How do I cancel?

Give 30 days written notice. Your membership ends 30 days from when the notice is received. There is no cancellation fee and no contract to break.

Do I need to bring my own towel?

No. Towel service is part of the membership, so towels are there when you finish your workout.
